Professor Richard Vinen will be talking about his new book, National Service: A Generation in Uniform 1945-1963.
The reasons why Britain instituted compulsory military service in the fifteen years after the Second World War and the social effects that performing military service had on generation of men born in the 1930s.
Richard Vinen is a Professor in History. Prior to joining the department in 1991, he was a Fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge and lecturer at Queen Mary College.
Lecture first Wednesday of every month, at 7pm.
Tickets are £5 and include refreshments.
