Second World War
Tuesday 25th October -V2 rocket launching
Let’s have a competition; you and your family can each build a rocket of your own design taking into consideration the rockets fins and its weight. Who can launch their rocket the highest?
Wednesday 26th October -Airborne engineers parachute
Build a parachute to help your own solider down to the ground; experiment with materials to make the descent as slow as possible.
Thursday 27th October -Rag rugs
Many objects were rationed in World War Two, including fabrics, so people would create their own designs from any scraps they had at home. Get into the ‘Make Do and Mend’ spirit by creating your own rag rug.
Friday 28th October -ID cards, ration books and gas mask boxes
Soldiers’ families at home during the Second World War continued on as normal as far as possible, but children had to be evacuated to the countryside. Make a Ration Book, Identity card and Gas Mask Box as if you were going to be evacuated away from the Bombs.
